Highways Maui District had a blast visiting the 3rd graders at Makawao Elementary School on February 20th! We connected with over 75 students through hands-on presentations about stormwater runoff and pollution, bringing the topic to life with interactive models like the EnviroScape and Stormdrain models.
Students got a close-up look at how stormwater travels through Maui’s environment—and how pollution can hitch a ride straight to the ocean. They also discovered simple yet powerful ways to protect water quality, from picking up litter to keeping chemicals out of storm drains.
A big mahalo to Makawao Elementary for welcoming us—we enjoyed showing how small actions can make a big splash for Maui’s waters!
