Highways Maui District had a great time with the 4th graders at Kahului Elementary School on April 21st and 22nd for some fun Earth Day stormwater presentations! We connected with 111 students through hands-on activities that helped show how rainwater moves across Maui and how pollution can make its way into the ocean.
Using the EnviroScape and Stormdrain models, students got a close-up look at how trash and other pollutants can travel with stormwater. They also learned simple ways they can help keep our waters clean—like picking up litter and making sure only rain goes down the drain.
Mahalo to Kahului Elementary for having us! We loved celebrating Earth Day by exploring how small everyday actions can help protect Maui’s environment.
