The Construction Site Runoff Control Program seeks to reduce the discharge of pollutants from private and public construction projects implemented within or encroaching on the Maui Highways District right-of-way. This program maintains an inventory of active construction projects, requires proposed construction projects to plan and implement erosion and sediment controls, reviews project plans and permits, conducts site inspections, implements enforcement actions, and provides construction Best Management Practices training to contractors, designers, engineers, inspectors, and construction managers. By monitoring construction projects in this way, this program works to protect water quality and reduce the discharge of pollutants from construction projects at all times during the construction process.
