Stormwater Maui at the City and County of Honolulu BMP Workshop

On August 1st and 2nd, the Highways Maui District team participated in the City and County of Honolulu’s BMP (Best Management Practices) workshop. This was a great chance for the team to learn about the latest techniques in stormwater quality management, all with the goal of protecting Hawaii’s waters.

Throughout the two-day workshop, the team got hands-on with topics like preventing erosion during construction, keeping stormwater controls effective after projects wrap up, and using green infrastructure to naturally improve water quality. They also explored how sustainable design and new technologies are making stormwater management more efficient.

With new ideas and strategies in their toolkit, the Maui District team is ready to adapt their efforts in stormwater management,, continuing their mission to keep our island’s waters clean and beautiful.
